Are the Gym Leaders required to have a mono type team or are wildcards allowed? Sorry to ask so much but I don't want to break any rules lol. Thanks again.

Hey guys. Sorry its been a few days since I logged on. I been battling some SERIOUS poison oak! When I get poison oak, I get it BAD. I see some things in gym that can be looked upon. There are some rules/clauses that I think would go well with gyms. Simple clauses that other gyms I know of have, and some clauses the Smogon community revolve around. Remember, these are optional, but it can make for an interesting battle:

    Sleep Clause
The first and most basic clause of any battle s
tates that only one pokemon may be put to sleep by an opponent at any given time. It's fairly simple to follow, if you put one pokemon to sleep, you can't put another one to sleep until the previous wakes up. There are some conditions that may throw people off however, the first is Rest.

•Rest - When the opponent uses the move rest, it does not count towards this clause. This is because you did not put the opponent's pokemon to sleep, but it is actually vice versa. It's important to know this, as it will stop some arguments.

•Natural Cure - Keep in mind that some pokemon have the ability Natural Cure, which heals status upon switching out. If you are positive the opponent has this ability, it is ok to send the next pokemon of theirs to sleep. This is because the pokemon with Natural Cure is no longer asleep. The same thing applies for moves such as Heal Bell and Aromatherapy.

    Evasiveness Clause

This clause is a very important one as it bans the use of anything that is involved with accuracy. This includes moves that raise evasiveness or lower accuracy, as well as items that lower accuracy.

•Banned Moves - Acupressure, Double Team, Minimize, Flash, Kinesis, Mud Slap, Sand-Attack, Smokescreen
•Banned Items - Lax Incense, Bright Powder

A little debate about abilities is quite confusing, but remember, abilities that affect these stats are not banned from being abused. Examples are Snow Cloak, Tangled Feet, ect. Those are allowed seeing as how they are the pokemon's ability and they can't always be avoided.

    OHKO Clause

Moves that guarantee a OHKO on pokemon are banned from use. It's extremely unfair when used on pokemon like Articuno where they have access to moves such as Mind Reader (guarantees that Sheer Cold can hit the next turn). Moves are:
    •Fissure
    •Sheer Cold
    •Guillotine
    •Horn Drill

    Species Clause

This clause allows the use of only one of each pokemon. This means that there can't be two Gyarados on your team or something of the such. Pre-evolutions of pokemon are allowed on the same team however, as they have different Pokedex numbers. Basically, if two or more pokemon on your team have the same Pokedex number, you're violating this clause.

    Item Clause

this clause allows only one of each items is allowed, so basically having a team with two or three pokemon with leftovers is not allowed. Only one leftovers is allowed.

    Destiny Bond Clause

This Clause does not allow destiny bond to be used when both opponents are at their last pokemon. If it is used it usually ends in a tie. If it is used then the one using Destiny Bond loses the match.

    Selfdestruct Clause

The moves Selfdestruct, Explosion, Perish Song, Destiny Bond, or any other such move may not be used if both players only have 1 remaining Pokemon. If a player uses one of those moves under this condition, they automatically lose.

    Uber Clause

    No Ubers are allowed

    current pokemon on Uber Tier

    Arceus
    Darkrai
    Deoxys
    Deoxys-A
    Deoxys-D
    Deoxys-S
    Dialga
    Garchomp
    Giratina
    Giratina-O
    Groudon
    Ho-Oh
    Kyogre
    Latias
    Latios
    Lugia
    Manaphy
    Mew
    Mewtwo
    Palkia
    Rayquaza
    Salamence
    Shaymin-S
    Wobbuffet
    Wynaut

    Type Clause

This clause only allows two pokemon of the same type in a team (Example: Infernape and Charizard are allowed but no other fire types.

    Entry Hazard Clause

This clause does not allow any entry hazard moves such as Stealth Rock,Spikes,Toxic Spikes. The pokemon can have the move but cannot use it.

If there were any I missed please PM me so it can be updated. Thanks.

lol, there only suggestions. You can use one of the rules, you can use all the rules, heck, you dont have to use any of the rules! Just remember, the leader has to follow his own rules. You cant say "No ubers," and bring a dragon gym team consisting of them!

As Cmndr mentioned It's a good idea to have them down for those that are used to having these rules. Of course as a Gym Leader if you choose to not use any then as far as I know( Or if N says otherwise lol) then that's fine. Just be prepared if you choose not to since a challenger will do the same lol.
